Vote For Our Film!!
Okay so here’s the deal. On Monday, September 1st, our short film “Guest Room” will go online along with 9 other finalists to compete for $100,000 in the Doorpost Film Project final round.
It’s a little tricky to vote, and involves a little of your time… but you get to watch movies… on HOPE!
Were about to give you the Cliffs Notes (how we all survived high school English) on the voting process.
Here are the rules of the game:
2009 Short Film Contest - www.thedoorpost.com
Films premiere// August 22 – 31st
Voting begins// September 1 – 16th
1st: www.thedoorpost.com // You must have a Doorpost account in order to be registered as a voter. This process is similar to setting up an account an email, Facebook, or Myspace account// name, email, password, birthday, phone, etc. (TheDoorPost.com is a secure site)
2nd: You have to watch 100% of each film to vote for the film.
During the premiere period you can watch the featured film of the day on the website. Your account will keep record of how much of each film you watch every time you log in.
3rd: Vote.
The voting period allows you to vote for each film and make a top 10 countdown for where you would place the film in the contest.
If you have already watched the films during the daily premieres, you will be ready to vote on September 1st. You can re-watch the films if you would like but you do not have to.
After you have voted on each film, the website will generate a ranking for your videos 1 – 10. You can then modify your scores again to make sure the videos are in the order in which you had picked.
4th: The winner is selected in Nashville, TN on September 19th at the 2009 Short Film Award Ceremony and will be announced shortly after at http://thedoorpost.com.
On the Road
One Spark Films is in the finalist round of the Short Film Contest 2009 hosted by the Doorpost Film Project. In the first round of competition our short film “La Pluma” made the top ten. “La Pluma” was shot in Guatemala City, Guatemala as a narrative of the interaction between two young boys reflecting on a life lesson from their grandfather. We are happy to say that “La Pluma” had the third highest view rating out of all the first round Doorpost contestants.

As production and popularity grows within the Indie film scene, we hope to use “The Guest Room” as a catalyst for our productions. The best film in the finals will be awarded $100,000 and immense publicity within the film community.
Our film is set apart from competitors because we are shooting across three states and already have an international audience. The Doorpost Project has had traffic from over one-hundred and eighty counties and One Spark Films has a support base in Guatemala.
“The Guest Room” is the fourth production for One Spark within the last six months. Having created a music video for Texas A&M University, a short documentary for Safe Passage in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and a short film for the first round of the Doorpost Short Film contest, we intend for “The Guest Room” to continue our mission behind filmmaking.
"Trophy" spelled many times looks funny...
What does it take to make it into the Trophy Generation? I don’t know, read for yourself?!?!
Location Scouting!!!
One of the beautiful things about making a film is getting to travel to far off places to scout out locations. Where are we going?
Guess you’ll find out soon. We head out this weekend. Stay tuned!
And I begged you to come in out of the cold night. You said, it ain’t the dark that I’m afraid of it’s the light. Said it ain’t the dark that I’m afraid of, it’s the light…
And you said sometimes I wish the sun wouldn’t come out at all. Just the good days.

Israelly Amazing!
Two of OSF’s staff were out of the country for a good chunk of May (which explains the dearth of posts on here recently). Jake is shooting a documentary with another film buddy in the UK. Steve took a family trip to Israel and Greece and came back with some memories and images that will haunt and inspire for a long time. A few of those pictures are posted below. Greg stayed home and is currently writing the script for phase two of the Doorpost Film Project.
Shalom, y’all!?
